What is Bury u3a?
• An organisation with over 900 members and almost 100 interest groups.
• The chance to pursue existing hobbies, skills and interests and discover new ones.
• An opportunity to get involved, meet new people, stay active and have fun.
• Our local u3a is voluntary; it is run for the benefit of members, by its members.
Who can join?
Anyone who is not in full time work or now retired.
What is the cost of membership?
• Join us now for an annual fee of £15 membership (approx. 30 pence per week) to 31st March 2027.
• The subscription includes a fee paid to our national body. This covers the cost of a quarterly magazine posted to your home address, (if you want it) plus access to national office staff, a national website full of useful information and public liability insurance cover for u3a events.
• Attendance at Bury u3a talks, events and groups only incur charges to cover costs such as refreshments and venue hire.
Would you like to meet us before joining?
• We have a weekly get together at Wetherspoons Art Picture House (opposite the bus station) on Tuesdays from 10.00-12.00. Meet existing members and ask as many questions as you like in a very sociable atmosphere.
• Our monthly meeting is held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (except August and December), at the The Met (Market Street, Bury). We have interesting speakers and a chance to meet other members. Email contact@buryu3a.org.uk for more details.
